Has anyone got any information on John Nutbeam born Winchester (New Tivet?), Hants 1850 or his wife Sarah Anglis, born New Alresford, Hants 1852. Or any other information on both surnames.
Any information on Henry Edward Clements born Ratcliff Stepney London 1884. Joined Royal Field Artillery 150th battery in 1903 served WW1 wife Hypatia Glass born Portsmouth 1894. Father was Henry Clements 1852-86 Lighterman on the Thames, wife Anne Rebecca Copas born 1856. Henry's father was a Soldier called James Clements of which I know absolutely nothing (his name and profession is given on a marriage certificate 1n 1878) anyone got any ideas how to find anything on James

Hi Heywood
Thanks for Info I never mentioned dates noticed post by illustrator as a possible family link was my wife granddad that passed away 2005. Was just recently given info from family member and hadn't started to trace yet as info was transcribed right as only from grandads memory. Thought to much coincede to have Henry Edwards married to Ibachia Glass name differnet to illustrator above. Also have a reference to a n unnamed child killed in Arundel Street Portsmouth killed by horse and cart but don't know how to research as no dates.

I meant the post for illustrator:
This is the bit I meant:
Father was Henry Clements 1852-86 Lighterman on the Thames, wife Anne Rebecca Copas born 1856. Henry's father was a Soldier called James Clements of which I know absolutely nothing (his name and profession is given on a marriage certificate 1n 1878) anyone got any ideas how to find anything on James
The Henry I found is this one above but you have him dead by 1886 and he is alive in 1891 census - that was all.

Mis read post sorry :'(

no worries :D
Hello dragon 266,
you did right to post as you do have the same family.
Free BMD has the marriage reference :
September 1910 St Thomas vol 5b pg 97
Henry E Clements and Hypatia E F Glass.
The spelling in the notes is understandable - unusual name.
Free BMD also has births for the family - the first one being Leonard H b 1911, Portsmouth.
There is a death for a Leonard Clements 3 yrs in 1915 Portsmouth - possibility for your child killed by horse ???
-
Thats great news thanks :D
Have to look at getting certificate to see what cause of death was to solve that particular mystery.
-
Free BMD has those names you list so you can add the dates to your records.
good luck

Can you please tell me how you found this record with out the fore name as I tried a search and came up with over 1000 names fairly new so a few tips would be appreciated.
-
Hello- sorry
After a certain year (can't remember which) the mother's name is also shown.
Using the FreeBMD site - click search and then births - then type in the search criteria:
Surname: Clements
Spouse/ Mother name: Glass
in your case I found out too that it is Portsmouth registration district but as it is so specific it finds them all in Portsmouth anyway.
Hope that is ok - any other difficulties- just post.
good luck

Just to highlight that illustrator is still looking for above information.

It would be good if you let us know a bit more illustrator. John Nutbeam has been answered to some extent on:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,276342.msg1601396.html#msg1601396
and I think you have something on Sarah Anglis from another thread.
I have posted on here re Henry Clements, so to help everyone, it would be good if you let us know what gaps there are or just what is needed.
best wishes

Well it seams a bit of time has passed since this thread was started and I have just found it.
Henry and Hypatia Clements are my great grandparents. Their first child was Leonard, born 1911, and from birth lived with my great great grandparents, Samuel and Francis Glass.
In may 1915 he was sent on a small errand to Arundel Street with an older girl when they both got ran over by a horse and cart. The girl survived with injuries but Leonard took too many internal injuries and died.
Hope this is of some help to you, all be it rather late.

Hi
My grandparents were Henry an Hypatia Clements I new about Leonard as my mum told me about it years ago. How am I related to you? Over the years I have done quite a bit of family history and have info about Henry and Hypatia and their parents military stuff etc.
Please reply
-
Elsie Clements, daughter of Hypatatia, is my grandmother. I imagine that your parents would be one of Elsie's siblings....god knows, there were enough of them.
I guess this means that you would be my late mother's (Margaret Copus) cousin.

I have now found the grave where Hypatia and Henry Clements are buried. They were both buried in the same grave but there is no gravestone there. I was however able to locate it quite accurately by position.
I would imagine that Hypatia would have buried Henry but who buried Hypatia....does anyone know. I also noticed that whilst Hypatia achieved the ripe old age of 80, Henry only made it to 55.....does anyone know why he died so young?
I also know that Henry served with 150 Bty RFA and fought in the first world war so I will be visiting him on remembrance day....I wonder if this contributed to his early death.
Any ideas?
