Title: STEEL - Elmswell
Post by: hclar1 on Wednesday 28 November 07 09:35 GMT (UK)
I am looking for information about a Sophia Steel (maybe spelt differently?) who married Reuben Wright possibly in 1819 in Elmswell.  Certainly in 1841 Reuben was married to a Sophia but her given age would suggest that she were only 13 if she married then (but there are also four children with an age of 15 so perhaps they weren't very accurate).

I am looking for any information such as whether this was that marriage or whether Reuben was married twice (and if so, any idea on the first wife, marriage/death dates); Sophia's parents, siblings or beyond; anything else that anyone thinks might be of interest/use.  Any information would be gratefully received  :)

Many thanks in advance ...

Reuben Wright married ELIZABETH Steel in Elmswell on 25th November, 1819. No indication that Reuben was a widower. This is from Suffolk Marriage Index.

Thanks, Suffolk*Sue, for both your replies.

Can anyone tell me more about Elizabeth and Sophia Steel?  Were they sisters or related in another way?

One can never find out too much about one's family, right?   ;)

Go to

http://www.elmswell-history.org.uk/

then select "Explore Elmswell's history" from the menu on the left

"From the Official Records" will answer some of your questions. There's a lot more of interest too.

Have fun!
Chris
