From a death cert. I have just found out that my ancestors, Ellen HARRINGTON m. Patrick (O) SULLIVAN emigrated to Australia from Co Kerry. Possibly their first couple of children were born in Co Kerry.
The time frame would be in the early 1840s but I have been unable to find them on shipping records.
Fully aware of how few Patrick (O) Sullivan's there would be from Co Kerry, :P I thought I'd ask if anyone else has come across these names in their research. The surname, Harrington, seems to be used quite frequently as a middle name.
Would welcome any suggestions ???
All the best,
Gail (in Australia)

No Connection to them but here is a good link for you (have to register with the site only takes a few minutes)

If you click on Griffiths Valuation (which was around 1851) on the site you can search where the surname Harrington was in Kerry its seems to be very popular in areas like Tuosist and Kenmare and there are quiet a few Patrick O'Sullivans in these areas as well. Patrick may have left by the time of Griffiths but names carry in families so could be cousins etc.
There are other possible areas as well. But could be worth trying the parish of Tuosist for the Marriage or Baptism most likely area but not a certainty.

Hi Gerard,
Thank you very much for your interest and directing me to the Irish Ancestry site - I have joined up and posted a couple of messages.
Again, a thank you for suggesting the likely areas the family came from.
I now feel that it could be worthwhile to order a couple of Parish Records.
All the best,
Gail
