Hello :)
I could do with some help please.
I am trying to trace the Mitchell ancestry for a Patrick Mitchell Born 4th April 1903, The information that I have is.
His father was John Mitchell, his mother was Mary Ann Mitchell (Goodwin) . John and Mary married in 1896. They lived in the district of St George in the East, there may have been more siblings, apart from that nothing else is known of his past.
Any information will be gratefully received. ;)

Hello, Pooh Bear,
Have you tried to find John & Mary Ann Mitchell in the 1901 census ? If you have the marriage cert for John & Mary Ann
married Dec ¼ 1896 St George in the East 1c 641, this would give you his occupation. If you have Patrick's birth cert., June ¼ 1903, St George in the East 1c 345, thsi will also tell you John's occupation, this is a help in tracing John in the 1901 census.
I have found one probable but this John & Mary Ann were living in East Ham John was 22 yrs old & a carman, b Barking.

Hi Pooh Bear
In the 1901 Census
RG13 p333 f 129 p 10
At 24 Lydia Street, Mile End Old Town
John MITCHELL Head 25 Dock Labourer, born Whitechapel
Mary A MITCHELL Wife 24, born Whitechapel
John MITCHELL Son 2 mths, born Shadwell
is a possibility. Do you know anything more about Mary Ann?
Kind regards
Gaie

Hi Pooh Bear
Assuming we're on the right track with John Mitchell the docker in the 1901 Census, I've looked further and have found John, and his father Job Mitchell and mother Mary in every Census apart from 1851. Job came from Spalding in Lincolnshire and there is a marriage of Job Mitchell and Mary Hatchett in Mar Qtr 1867 Kensington 1a 182. If you would like the census images and those of Mary Hatchett and Mary Ann Goodwin that I've found then send me a PM with your e-mail address and I can send them to you.

Hi There :)
Thanks for the information Toni and Gaie, not sure how to set up a PM to you Gaie.. yes i know "how hard can it be"?
I have been told that patrick had a sister ..Mary.. younger than him, and when patrick was in his early teens his parents either left him or something happened to them which left him to fend for himself. how sad
Thanks again

Hi Pooh Bear
No, not a silly question at all, we were all new members once! If you look at the left hand side of the postings below our names you will see a square of a baby's face (at least that's what I've always thought it was!) and a green scroll. Click on the green scroll and it allows you to send a Personal Message to that person.
It's much better to send your e-mail address or any other personal information this way ie privately as if you post it in a normal posting then all and sundry on the internet can read it, and you might not want that!
I've looked at the IGI for Job Mitchell and it would appear that there was a Job Mitchell born in Spalding but also a Job Mitchell whose family came from Bedfordshire; this Bedfordshire family fit the family in the 1841 Census in Spalding, not the family that was born in Spalding! Confusing, I know! So you're going to have to work carefully backwards from birth, marriage and death certificates to confirm or otherwise the census information.
Give us a shout if you need help in finding things.
Kind regards
Gaie

Hi there the Patrick Mitchell you have asked about 4/4/1903 is my great grandad
I’m trying to track family down too
Had a sister Mary and brother John
Patrick parents died somewhere in 1920s within a year of each other I don’t have much more information and I see you haven’t been active on here in a long time so hopefully you get this message and we can join the dots
