I've traced my Great grandfather and his family back to Tipton Stafford. According to the 1881 census he was born in 1849 in Balsall Heath Birmingham, Warwick. I have not been able to find him in any birth index as of this time. I was hoping someone could check the 1851 census to see if he is listed. His name is Samuel Bannister and he should be around 2 years old. I have been told over the years by my father and other relatives that we are related to Sir Roger Bannister but I can't find the link yet. Any info would be appreciated. Hopefully the 1851 census can tell me his parents name and anyone else in the household.
Thanks,

Hi Dennis
His marriage certificate should give his father's name to make the search easier - maybe even a possible address . Did Samuel marry (a possible match) Rachel BAKER September quarter 1869 in the Dudley registration district which covers Tipton. Ref 6c 140 :-\
I see that Samuel and Rachel (with son Charles age 1) are also in Tipton 1871 census - he born Balsall Heath age 21, engine stoker at 17 Union Street. RG10/2998 folio 28 page 3
Good luck

Welcome Dennis :)
Sadly, Samuel isn't showing up on the 1851 Warwickshire Census Index.
Sorry

Could it be this one ???
1861
New Cross St, Tipton, Staffs
Charles BANISTER head mar 42 sawyer b.Warwick
Mary Ann wife 42 b.Gloucester
Charles John son 15 forge man b.Birmingham
Mary Ann dau 13 b.Birmingham
Samuel son 11 b.Birmingham
Katherine dau 7 b.Tipton
Susanna dau 5 b.Tipton
RG9/2042 folio 50 page 50
Perhaps Samuel's marriage certificate will give confirmation of his father's name.

Thanks for the info from the 1861 census. I've received the marriage certificate and Charles and Mary Ann ARE his parents. The name is now spelled with 2 Ns instead of one. I found the same info in the 1851 census minus a few of the children.
