Hi, my husbands 5th Great Grandfather was Joseph Mills 1711-1771 from Nantmel, Radnorshire. He was married to Elizabeth Mills 1711-1786. This is possibly the same Joseph you are researching. Please get in touch if you think it is.

Hi Netty
Yes I should think it is the same Joseph Mills married to Elizabeth but I don't have a maiden name for her.  Joseph was my 5 x Great Grandfather. This branch of my Family tree begins with my Grandmother's mother who was Sarah Mills b.1857 who married James Robert Corfield.  I would be interested to see how we are connected.

Best wishes
Shirley

Do you know who Sarah Mills's parents were?

Hi Shirley
Thank you for your swift reply.
My husband Derrick Lloyds Great Grandfather Hugh Mills b1848 was a brother to your Great Grandmother Sarah Mills b1857. What a large family John and Ann had, 12 children!
Alas I haven't a maiden name for Joseph's 1711 wife Elizabeth either.
Have you managed to get any further back than Joseph and Elizabeth?
We have only just started to research our family trees in any depth having recently retired so any info you have would be most appreciated.
Kind regards Annette and Derrick.

Hello Cousins Annette and Derrick
I wasn't able to get any further back than Joseph and Elizabeth Unknown but I do have lots of Mills information.  My third cousin and very dear friend also descended from Hugh Mills, sadly Margaret died 7 years ago, she would have been delighted to share her information with you.  I am in touch with a few other descendants of John Mills and Anne Hughes.  I think the best way of sharing information is probably through email and I am happy to do that unless you want the fun of researching it yourselves.  I will wait now for your email address.

Best wishes
Shirley

Hi Shirley
Thank you for your email. So sorry to hear about Margaret, it would have been lovely to have been in contact with her. Thank you so much for being willing to share your information about the Mills family tree. We have researched on Ancestry.co.uk a little and have just sent off for our DNA test Kits!! We are away next week but hope to subscribe to the site when we come back and source some more information but would be thrilled if you could email us any at all.
We live just outside Hay on Wye, the area where Derricks Grandfather Joseph Mills b1891 moved to after the 1st WW.
We look forward to hearing from you,
Kind regards Annette and Derrick      Email: hyaannet@aol.com

Hi Shirley
Thank you for your reply. Yes Joseph Mills married Margaret Jane Jones and Josephs father was Hugh Mills b 1848. Hugh married Sarah Jones b 1857. Hugh's parents were John Mills and Ann Hughes.
We found a book "Country Voices" by Charles Kightly (can be bought on ebay for £1.89) which has extracts of interviews with Margaret Jane Jones and Ronald (Ronnie) Mills (Derricks Uncle) regarding their youth and growing up in the Welsh countryside, which you might find interesting reading.
We look forward to hearing more from you in due course and if you have any gaps regarding this line of the family tree regarding siblings of Joseph or Hugh we may be able to help.
Kind regards Annette and Derrick Lloyd.
