Hi Mojomo,

Is he the James Morris, Carpenter, with wife Mary Ann?

This doesn't look like an easy one! If all else fails, you could order the birth cert for one of the children to find out Mary Ann's maiden name. Peter, for instance, is easy to identify:
Peter Morris Sep 1880 Bedwelty 11a 121

Will have a look at later census to check if there's a more precise birth place for James & wife  :)

 :)

Edit: Unfortunately not. 1891 only says Radnorshire and by 1901 Ann(ie) is remarried to a John Henry Mitchell and her birth place is Radnorshire not known.

I can see one *possible* marriage in Monmouthshire:
Dec 1872 Bedwelty 11a 225
James Morris to Ann Jones or Ann Hanney

Tati
We have a partial copy of Thomas Morris marriage cert. James is listed as a Master carpenter, but he may have been an undertaker at sometime.   ???

There wasn't any undertaker either, nothing really to identify him ...  :-\

Unless someone else sees something that I can't, I believe you really need to get Thomas's birth cert to find out his mother's name, and from there the parents' marriage cert to find out their fathers ... and I'm crossing fingers for you that Ann wasn't Ann Jones  :P
