Does anyone know if the Shore Family in Wickersley is related to the Shore family in Norton and Meersbrook? I know the Gill family moved from Norton to Rotherham and wondered if some of the Shores who had family connections did to? Has anyone found a derbyshire or lancashire link with the Rotherham Shores?

In relation to a question you asked a while ago re the Shores of Wickersley, are you still looking for infromation on this connection?.

Yes. I'm researching my husbands family and found that 2 branches of his family seem to have connections with the Shore family both in Norton and in Wickersley. Charles Bullivant married an Ada Shore in 1901. The Bullivant family seemed to have married into a number of Quarry master families. I know the Shores were quarry owners in Wickersley and their business went bust about the same time the Shores of Norton went bancrupt presumably because of the collapse of the Sheffield bank for both families. But were they related? Another branch in Norton the Gills seem to be distantly related to a more prosperous branch of Gills who were connected to the Shore family.

Ada Shore is the sister of my great great grandmother Harriot Shore and Great Grandmother Florrie Shore (Ada's neice) My mum has records of the Family from Isaac (Ada and Harriots father) and I will investigate how for these go back. I know that our family is related to the bullivants through my Grandfather (Florries son William Duncan Shore) and can remember a relative named Bullivant being mentioned by him although i wasnt that old (again my mum will be clear on this connection). Not heard about the Gill connection I will see if we have any information.

My records show that Charles Bullivant died in 1945. His father was John Henry Bullivant. He also had a brother Robert. They were all quarriers and stone Masons. John Henry's brother was also a Quarryman and his son George. A third brother Thomas also a Quarryman. All Children of Job Bullivant a Butcher from Torksey Lincolnshire who lived in Bramley and died in 1909 at the age of 90. I'm writing a book for my own pleasure only about the Bullivants lives from when they moved out of Lincolnshire in the 1830s and 40s. Any information you could add about life in Wickersley and district I'd be greatful for too.

Andy, is the Isaac Shore to which you refer the brother to Samuel I, John, Mary and Sylvanus Shore? Refer to the tree at the following site:
http://www.geocities.com/layedwyer/shore.htm
I am descendant from an Abel Shore, head of a branch of Yorkshire woollen weavers dating back to the late 18th century, but we have not yet been able to make any ties to either the Shores of Darley Dale or the Sheffield Shore branches.

Ted Shore

Hello Duckweed.
My name is Ivan Richardson. I have only just found this site. I am a direct descendant from Emma Shore. Isaac Shore's younger sister. She married John Henry Richardson from Doncaster. They were my Great Grandparents on my Mother's side. Her Maiden Name was Swain. Could I suggest to you that you look on Wickersley Web. The Genealogy Section suggests a connection between Shore of Norton and Shore of Wickersley. I have been in Shore's Quarry many times when I was a kid with my Father. Godfrey Richardson. It was Eyre's Scrap Yard then.
Respects to you.

Kath2Ivan Do you have a family tree for this Shore family back to or before Isaac Shore?
Thanks,
