Lookup Census 1871 - BOWDEN as above plus child Charles Thomas Bowden
I am looking for parents of Charles Thomas Bowden who d. 1915 in Victoria Australia aged 59 years which would make his birth about 1856. His death cert said he was born in London.
I found a birth cert in Bethenal Green Jun 1855 - 1c 263 for a Charles Thomas Bowden but I am not sure this is correct as I cannot locate any census's to cross match
Parents on death cert are:
John Henry Bowden and Miriam Ann Ayers
Charles Thomas Bowden arrived in Victoria,Australia about 1880 and married Eleanor Frances Heasman m.1882 and had children:
Charles Henry Bowden b. 1883
Ruby Elizabeth Bowden b.1885
William Frederick Bowden b. 1886
Albert George Victor Bowden b. 1890
Ernest Arthur Bowden b.1893
Both John Henry and son Charles Thomas Bowden's occupations were : Master Bakers
It's a great sunny day in Melbourne Australia 8)

I suspect other Rootschatters have looked for your Bowden family, I stand to be corrected here but I to can find nothing that connects to this family on Ancestry or the IGI, would it not be worth purchasing the cert for the birth 1857, there is provision on the ONS site for you to state parents, if you are incorrect I think you lose about £3 and they will refund the difference, it should give you an address to check, also I can't find a marriage on freebmd.org.uk, unless they are under another name and it has been miss transcribed
Good luck

Thank you Louise and all rootsweb viewers. I have forwarded your advise to the family. I thought it was just me unable to find any record of this family.
The parents names were written so clearly that I believe the informer on the death cert. must have been grief stricken or was confused.
Thank you for all your help.

Hi Karen
I have had a look at that entry and I don't think it's correct because of father John and dates.
Great that you could find one even that close.
I have tried Miriam Ayers so many different ways and I have seen the original death cert which is so clear as to the spelling.
Thank you very much for your efforts.

I don't know if anyone is still interested in this and I have made no advances except a further negative piece of evidence.
Charles Thomas Bowden married Eleanor Frances Heasman in 1882. In the marriage notice in the Geelong Advertiser on 30 May 1882, Charles was listed as the youngest son of John Henry Bowden of London.
That has still moved me no closer to solving the puzzle but the "youngest" reference and the London location might contribute if any further records were uncovered.
Has anyone progressed any further?
