I am researching the INDIAN - HARDY line of my family which I can place in Cumberland as of 1846, the date of John INDIAN's birth. At that time, John INDIAN, William INDIAN, and Ann HARDY Indian were residing in Farnberry. Until John's marriage in 1870 in County Durham, I do know not know where this family resided or what other members may be part of the household. If anyone could guide me to a resource or help with a look-up, I'd appreciate it. Kind regards, Laurie

Have you ever seen a copy of a family tree ' Six Generations of the Indian Family in the North of England from 1784'?
It is all handwritten and originally compiled by Harry and Joan Thompson of Wigan. I would be willing to send a copy by post if you want it and can let me know where to send it.

Hi
Following on from the census data above, if it helps at all, I have:
Thomas INDIAN bn abt 1785 married Susan HAVELOCK bn abt 1785 Alston (daughter of William HAVELOCK and Elizabeth HETHERINGTON)
May tie in with yours, given the middle name of HETHERINGTON to one of the INDIAN children!
Please let me know if it does!

Thank you all for your responses, and I apologize for my not coming back here after asking for help. Please forgive my rude behaviour; it was not intended, but still, it's no less rude.
Hopefully you will see these responses if you still post here:
Samuel, yes, Susan--who I have in my records as Susannah--HAVELOCK married Thomas INDIAN. It was the search tonight for William HAVELOCK, Susannah's father, that led me back here (I googled the name and this post came up). Do you connect? I'm happy to share what I have, though I'll warn you, it's not a whole lot on Havelocks (yet).
VeraT, no, I've never heard of "Six Generations of the Indian Family in the North of England from 1784", but I recently completed up to 8 generations that most likely ties in with that! If I can post mine here (it's 3 typed pages, names and dates, just an outline), I will.
Laurina, thank you for the census help! I now have those, and I'm sorry I didn't respond before.
