Hi there people, Hope you are all having a good weekend.
Need help looking up Parish records. I have a William Wilkinson married Ellen Naylor at St Peter's , Church Street. on 15 .03. 1836.
I have them on the 1851 census lining in Shevington with Thomas and Ann Wilkinson, with their children Thomas (I have sent off for his Birth Cert) and Rebecca (I can't find her on the BMD).
I have also found on the IGI a John bpt sept 1839, James bpt Oct 1840 and died 1842 , Elizabeth Jane bpt. 1856, Mary Jane bpt 1854 ad Matthew bpt Dec 1852. They all have a William Wilkinson and Ellen as parents and all bpt in Preston.
I have found a similiar family in the 1841 census but the ages of William do not tally with the 1851 records. They seem to disappear after 1851.
I am trying to link this family with my gr. gr. grandfather John Wilkinson. There is a link with a Thomas Wilkinson and Shevington, as John's daughter Julia was born there.
I would grateful if anyone has any ideas how to follow this through.
Thomas Wilkinson was from Oldha, abt 1781 and Ann b abt 1779 was from Scarrisbrick.
Many thanks

Dear SandraC,
The following (taken from a genealogy report):
. JOHN WILKINSON was born 1818, and died 18 Jun 1864 in Winsconsin, USA. He married MARY ELIZABETH POWELL Mar 1841 in Lancashire, England, daughter of JOHN POWELL and HANNAH SNELSON. She was born 1824 in Chester, Cheshire England1, and died in Missouri.
Notes for JOHN WILKINSON:
American Civil War Soldiers Record:
Enlistment Date 29 February 1864. Side Served: Union
Unit Numbers 3089 3089. Enlisted as a Private in C Company 36th Infantry regiment Wiscinsin. Wounded on the 18th June 1864 and died of his wounds 30th June 1864 in Annapolis, MD
Arrived in Connecticut in 1954 from Liverpool England. Ship the Constance, with wife Mary, daughters, Hannah, Elizabeth, Julia and son John. Appears on the 1860 Oxford Wisconsin Census as boarding with James W Spicer and family.
I have them on the census in 1851 in Toxeth Park (transcribed Wilkenson instead of Wilkinson).
