Hi
I'm looking for any burials for the name KETTLEWELL in Whixley and/or Barmby-on-the-Moor. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

To be more specific I am looking for the burial of a John Kettlewell who was baptised in 1766 and assumed to have died before 1841.
Thanks.

Hello Smouse,
I came across this post when I was searching surname interests.
By now, you have probably found what you were looking for, but I thought I'd reply anyway!
Our John Kettlewell (bap 2 8. 1766 at Whixley) was married to Elizabeth Potter, and was the father of James (and many others), all born in Whixley.
I have John's death as Whixley, 29 March 1829, aged 63.
James Kettlewell moved to Barmby Moor some time before 1830.
I do have the transcript of Whixley Parish Registers 1586 to 1812, if I can be of any help.
Best wishes,
Yorkslass

Hi Barbara
If John is your "3grt great grand uncle" which of his siblings would be your direct ancestor?

Hi Damian
John’s sibling, Margaret my 3rd great grandmother
I have a copy of her marriage ban to Jonathan
Married 23 Dec 1794 Whixley. I would love to know more about you and the family we share.

Ah yes, baptised 1776 and named after their mother.
I believe their parents Thomas & Margaret married in Whixley in 1765. Margaret was a widow and I believe was previously married to Thomas's brother John in 1761 where we see that she was formerly Margaret Mitchel.
Thomas wrote a will in 1814 which went to probate in 1817 but so far I haven't been able to find his burial record and therefore his age as the time of his death which would be a great help in proving his baptism as there are at least two main contenders.

Hi Damian
Is John K your grandad ?
Do you have any photos or family stories to tell ?
Or grave photos ?
I’m also interested in the Cockers who married into the Kettlewell family
Thanks
Barbara
