Yes indeed Helina. If you click on Australian Resources at the top of the Emigrants to Australia Board, there are loads of links for all things Australian.

If you know which State that will make it alot easier. eg: if it is Victoria, you can download the image immediately for a fee.

All the best,

Magoo

Hi Helina.
You have to apply to the individual State for certificates so you would need to know which state. BMD's are a State responsibility not a Federal one.

It will often be easier and cheaper if you have the reference for the certificate you require - many folks on  here can help you find this if required

Helina,

looking at your postings- is this for your Philip H Coole in Western Australia?

A 1928 marriage appears here on the WA Reverse Marriages site, with a link to where you order from the Justice Department.  There is an order form that you can fill out and then print, or print and then fill out to post.

You cannot order on line or via fax or telephone and WA certificates are expensive, even with a ref number. ($A30 for over 75 years old and with the number)  They expect you to pay in Aussie dollars, so using a credit card is the best option (a bank cheque will add lots to the expense)

You should also check the exchange rate, as our dollar is very strong at the moment.

link to family history section Dept of Justice,
there is a free online Historical BDM index that you can search

Hi Helina

You didn't say if it was your Coole that you were interested in - his marriage is in the reverse marriage index for WA.

The process for other States is different - In Victoria you can download Historical certificates instantly, other States you can order on line.

If you need help you will have to tell us more details - unless it is about a person who may be still living.

Hi Christine,

I'm looking for the marriage between Phillip Hedley Coole and Isabel Keisay.  I know nothing about Isabel.
Phillip was born 1904 in Bristol, England. In 1921 he went to America, and as far as I know he married in 1928 in Australia. I know going back to the 1950s he was living in Perth as I was in correspondence with him.

I have had another look on the reverse marriage for WA and still cannot find the marriage.

Thanks for helping

Good, you found it, I should have told you that I had found it just using the surname - it came up first.  Using that information (as printed in the index) you can order a certificate if you wish for further information and details of the marriage and parental information.

Searching the WA BDM index shows the birth of Isabel in 1907 - it is a rare surname and she is of the age to be able to be getting married in 1928.

KIESEY ISABEL Female    CLAREMONT 299 1907   (Claremont is the district)

Her parents are not recorded in the index, nor for any other entries except a 1903 one -
KIESEY CHRISTINA  father ERNEST WILLIAM mother MACKAY JEAN
 district COTTESLOE  490 1903

the other birth registrations are quite some time afterwards, so might be children of a sibling, unless the family left the state for a while.

the link to the PO Directories - they go to 1950

Apart from the Coole's interred at various WA cemeteries, use the site to check for KEISEY'S.
You will see some.
