Looking for a marriage for Lorna Gladys B Smerdon who married a Prujean.
I'm unable to find the Prujean marriage.
Lorna was born in 1899 on the Isle of Wight. Her father was Ernest Smerdon c 1873 born in Newton Abbott and her mother was Alice Symons c 1875 born in Launceston, Cornwall.
In 1963 she married my g uncle Jason Kirk in Wakefield.
Its the Prujean name that baffling me.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Which index were you using?
Freebmd/ ancestry's transcribed index is semi-complete and coverage peters out around 1915-1920.
After that you need to use complete indexes. (library or a pay-to-view site)

Hi Jo,
Have checked the marriage indexes up to and including 1940, nothing found, so perhaps she did marry abroad as you thought (ref your pm), or at least later than 1940.

I have an Enid Prujean-Barnes (1901-?) whose daughter was called Lorna (1934-2005) so maybe it was a family name? Enid's parents were Philip Frances Prujean (1848-1915) and Margaret Elizabeth Barnes (1868-?). The family seem to have moved from South Wales to Gloucestershire during Philip's lifetime. Enid was one of 5 children, the only son was James Prujean-Barnes (1896-?).
