Hello Sharon
Found George on the 1911 Canadian census.
George Williamson age 12
Enumeration District Emily,Victoria/ Haliburton, Ontario
Born Feb. 1899 England
Farm labor(domestic)
Living with a family named Ingram
1911 Canadian census started June 1, 1911
Further found a Edwin George Williamson who signed up WW1 on Dec ? 1915
Lists his birthplace as Kent England
Born Feb. 7, 1898
Living in Victoria, BC
I went on to check out Canadian Virtual War Memorial Veterans Affairs Canada and found the following record which may be your George.
George Williamson died Oct. 30,1918
Serving on ship: HMCS Galiano
There is a Victoria Memorial Ross Bay Cemetery Victoria, BC for the crew of the Galiano
More information on this ship is available at:
Loss of HMCS Galiano
www.gwpda.org/naval/galiano
If you key in HMCS Galiano you will find a list of crew who went down with the ship.
Sure hope that some of the above information is of help.

Hi Lilybell,
Not sure if that George would be right :-\ He lists his father as his next of kin who is also living in Victoria BC, which makes me think that this George wasn't a home child.

Karen's find of a George stating from Manchester...could be that he was in a group home in Manchester from a young age, and never knew his birth place...
or his real family....judging from the next of kin.... Did your grandmother's parent/s die young? What do you know about the family....this will be a tough one to prove if this is the right person and he had no recollection of family....were there other siblings as well?
There are 2 david McMullens in Durham on the 1911...both farmers for whom he may have worked and befriended...one is in Clarke.
Do you have George in 1901, u.k? J.J.

Hi Sharon,
What do you know about George for certain .
Anything other than his name on the Home Children site would be a real big help in trying to find
him.
Date and place of birth, family names .Did he serve in WW1 if so did he survive or was he a casuality.
The more info you can provide will go a long way towards folks helping you to find him.
Did he have contact with his family after coming to Canada.
Have you checked Perry Snow's British Home Children Registry website?
Was my 1911 census find him? I see that he came with Mr. Wallace's party destined for Bellevue,
Ont but do not know if that is where he ended up.
Hopefully he'll be found.

Hiya folks
George was born in Liverpool in 1900 to Amelia Critchley and George Williamson, cant find any trace of these two marrying but they had 6 children between 1898 and 1920. last address before George was born is Dixon Terrace in Liverpool when Elizabeth was born (she is their first child). Will post again if i get any more info.

Hello Again Sharon,
If you check out Home Children Canada website I think you will pleased to find that they will help
you find George. Please read through the whole site as it makes for very interesting reading
I found the following information on Rootsweb
Addresses of British Home Children ReelC-4691
George Williamson-11-Manchester-Salford Union Moses Thompson-HopeTp. Zion PO reputed left
here 22/11/15
Could he have been a inmate at Salford Union Work House. I believe many of the Home Children
came from workhouses.
Found this information on Library and Archives Canada
Home Children(1869-1930) Boards of Guardians Item Display
Name: Williamson
Given Name: George
Taken Into Care By: Salford
Sending Agency: Rev. Wallace
Year of Arrival: 1911

Source: Library and Archives Canada
Reference: RG 76 C 4 a, British Children Emigrated to Canada by Authority of Board of Guardians

When George came to Canada it's indicated on the Home Children site Library and Archives Canada
that he was with Mr. Wallace's party that went to Bellevue, Ontario.
There was a James S. Marchmount Distributing Home at Bellevue, Ontario which I believe is where
he went. I have not had time to check out this information but I will do so.
I found another website you can check out again very interesting and informative on Home Children
Home Canada: Canada's Little Immigrants some of the stories are so sad one just wants to cry.
Hang in there you will find George its just going to take some time.
Take care ,

Thanks Lilybell and everyone for your interest.
I have sent for George 's Birth Cert. so i will keep you informed if anything else comes to light from it. I dont think Salford workhouse would be the place for my George especially when we have a Brownlow Hill workhouse in Liverpool so iam putting this to bed till i find something more definite, Thanks again for your efforts and advise i will post any developments whether or not he ended up in Canada.
Thanks
