Hi, I am wondering if anyone is going to a family history centre, which may have 1911 census for Londonderry.
The location film is FHL BRITISH Film 1840283, which takes in
1911 Londonderry Urban D.E.D. 48/10-21 Londonderry City: Eiving Street, Ferguson Street, Foyle Road, Foyle View, Ivy Terrace, Mary street, M'Loughlin's Close, Millar Street, Moat Street, Mountjoy Street, New Street, Orchard Row.
The surname I am looking for is McGaffigan / McGavigan / McGavaghan or any close variant. The address in question is 48 Ferguson Street and 27 Orchard Row.
My local Family History Centre is 20 miles away. I understand I could ask them to order it in for me for a very small fee, however, to do this I need to visit the FHC in person first.
I have 2 pre school children, which makes it hard for me to visit the FHC, also I do not have my own transport either, so it would take me 4 buses and 2 trains to get there and back (not something i want to do with toddlers in tow).
If anyone can assist, please let me know. Thanks for any help in advance.
Regards Gillian
PS..Would also be keen on 1901 census for above names residing at Orchard Row, Londonderry, not sure what the film number for that one is tho'.

Hi Gillian
If you don't find anyone who can help you with your request there is a service available on line - and I hope it's okay to mention their name - FamilyUlster - who will look up information for a reasonable price. I haven't done a census look up but did do a marriage certificate lookup. Since I only wanted the information and not the certificate it was quite reasonable but they will look up census information as well.
The cost wasn't that much more than the cost of ordering microfilm at the FHL.

Not sure where you are but if outside UK you can order 1911 census from your local LDS library. Check LDS catalogue at www.familysearch.org to find census microfilm numbers, details, etc.

I'm in Canada. I have taken a look at the FHL library and I just can't figure out which film to order. On the marriage certficate the groom Hugh Mcclements lived at 46 Bond Street, Derry. I can't find Bond Street listed on any of the films.
The bride Sarah Wilson lived at 9 Northland Quay Derry. They were married in Jan 22, 1911 so not sure they would be at either address when the 1911 census was taken but haven't gone any further with this - seeing as this isn't even my tree but my sister's husband's family so I only do it when I am tired of banging my head against my own brickwalls.

Had a look at LDS catalogue and can see the problem.
Bond St. is Waterside area but can't see any of it listed for 1911. No Northland Quay but Film #1840298 has Northland Rd. & Northland Terrace.

Thanks for taking a look for me. Much appreciated.

1912 Ulster Covenant has a William M McClements at 45 Bond Street, as well as a Samuel, and an R J. The Declaration has an Isabella McClements.

Thank you for that piece of information - Hugh's father was Robert so that might be the RJ. Trying to find information from Ireland is so much harder than
tracking English relatives through all the censuses, Free Reg, Free BMD. That's a walk in the park compared to this but will add this new information to little pile.
