Please would somebody help me with my Joseph WOODHOUSE.
From the census Joseph was born about 1803/4 in Honley. I am hoping that he was baptised in Almondbury and that the entry says that the parents were from Honley.

As always in this neck of the woods (Almondbury), there are a few to choose from! I think they were mentally challenged when picking christian names - they always came up with the same ones that everyone else did.
Hopefully, you might be able to glean something from the parents' names. Anyway, here goes
1. baptised 20.3.1803 s/o Jonathan , occupation = cropper (no mother's details) at Honley Chapel
2. born 31.3.1803, baptised 8.5.1803 son of John & Mally (nee Crossley), abode = Farnley, occupation = clothier, no details of which chapel.
3. baptised 24.7.1803 s/o John , clothier abode= Coat (no mother's details) baptised at Honley Chapel
4. born 14.5.1804, baptised 10.6.1804 s/o Benjamin, clothier & Grace (nee Kaye) abode= Castle Hill, no details of which chapel.
I think , where there is no mention of a chapel, it means that the child was baptised at the 'mother church' i.e. Almondbury Parish Church, so that should reduce your choice to 2!!
Good luck - I know how difficult it can be trying to sort this lot out!!

Thanks very much for that Jill. The daughter of Joseph and Jane WOODHOUSE married into my CLEGG line.
I have a number of Joseph CLEGGs too. :o

Joseph Woodhouse was my gt gt grandfather. I can't help you with a baptism date but his memorial card gives his date of birth as 22 September 1803, so that may narrow down the options!

Thanks very much for that info.
Joseph is my friend's ancestor (I was helping him with his research in 2007). I will pass this new information on to him.
