I should have added that his parents were Henry William Knapper and Emma Pilsbury and that he had a brother William Knapper who married a Maud Hopwood and they had a child Eileen Knapper ( sorry no dates for any of these)
Do you know where the name Knapper comes from? Just wondering as my husbands family (from Belgium) is of the name Knappen and thats what struck me when i came across the Knapper that the similarity was extraordinary.

Thanks for this further info. As to origin of the Knapper name I can't Help you on this. All I do know is Sarah Knapper comes from Kidsgrove born c1838.
