does anyone have any idea how i might find out where british soldiers serving in bengal approx 1867 +would have registered their births and marriages.thanks

well its only hearsay im afraid but i think my ggreatgrandfather thomas williams was a connaught ranger,he moved from ireland approx 1870 to india ,one child born allabahad,one peshawar,one ranikhet came back to england approx 1880,not much help but thats all i know,angela

Army Births and Baptismsetc. If you go to www.familyrelatives.org
they have a free section on Military - GRO Chaplains Returns etc
I have found my own birth registered in 1940 but going back very much further other family members of the Royal Artillery in India Quebec from 1850 onwards. You can also send for certificates once you have the folio numbers.
