Births Jun 1878 Holt Charles Bradley Stockport Vol 8a Page ?_7
Might have to send for this Cert (when the page number is sorted out ! ) if he doesnt show up in a Census ...
The original page is dreadfull - but it looks like Page 17 - the GRO would help tho .... in the circumstances ...
-
Hiya
He didn't marry until 1902 - so will still be single in 1901 if this helps
Debbie

Cant see him immediatly in 1881.... this 1891 chap has the wrong middle initial, but enumeration errors are common, and I cant see another Charles HOLT born in the Stockport RD ....
1891 - RG12/3137; Folio 73; Page 11 - Bury, Lancs
Warth Fold - 2, Walker Street
Charles W Holt 37 Head Cotton Mill Manager born Lancs, Elton
Ellen Holt 41 Wife Rawtenstall
Herbert Holt 15 son Ramsbottom
Charles W [sic] Holt 13 Stockport

Ta Debbie - guess thats the wrong chap then, as he is married to an Annie in 1901 - still in Bury !
-
so it seems he stayed around the Stockport area from birth to marriage ?
-
to help you I believe ( unconfirmed yet ) that he married Sarah Ann Crabtree about 1902 and they had a son also called Charles Bradley about 1904.
does this help ?
-
Hi H - sadly, not really as all those events are post-1901, which is the last census published.
Strange that he just wont be teased out in 1881/91 or 1901 .... it may be that he is under a stepfathers name ... trying to find a female Holt remarrying prior to 1881 at the momnet.
Does the name SHIRT ring any bells ?
-
I wonder if Bradley was his mothers Maiden name ?
Marriages Dec 1874
BRADLEY Sarah Ann Stockport Vol 8a Page 102 to Holt William
only assuming that this couple married each other from the 4 names on the page of course ....
-
They are together in the 1881, but no sign of a Charles - in fact the daughter is 11, so must be a 2nd marriage ?
-
LOL - just found a Charles Bradley b1878 .... a grandson, but parents are there too - and its deffo a surname, not a mistake :(
