I'm trying to establish the details of the family of William and Mary Mastus/Masters, all born in Beckley between 1820 and 1838. The registers don't appear to be available on film from the LDS. Does anyone know where they are held, if they still exist at all?
Also, the book "Beckley Names & Places" by Dennis Ward may help as it is said to list people who emigrated to Australia in the 1930s, as did William & Mary and family. Anyone know where this is available? It doesn't appear to be available in New Zealand.
Cheers, Roger

The original parish registers for Beckley are held at East Sussex Record Office at Lewes. Can't help with the book.

Roger, the book is available here at the Beckley History Society :) they might also be able to help you with look ups;

Thanks very much Nell and Jane.
Nell, do you know if the Beckley regs are available for searching at Lewes? Is microfilm available?
Jane, I'll try the BHS as you suggest.

Generally speaking, the regs are either on film or microfiche at Lewes. There may even be a typescript. They have a pretty good cataloguing system there.
