:D I've lost Gt Gran in 1891 and her family. Please keep a look out for her.
In 1881, Kate was 2 yrs old and youngest of John Williams and Wife Ann.
They were living at Turnip End, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire.
Kate's birth gro ref is Sept 1878 Wycombe 3a 549.
That's all I have, prior to marriage in Dec 1898 Cookham Berkshire.
I would be most grateful for any help please, in locating them in 1891 or 1901. At all
Many thanks, Lesanne :D
-
Looking at the family in 1881 the others kids are a better bet for chasing. I'll have a scout for 'em.

Update: some may be on piece 1143 in 1891.
-
Thanks Pauline. I bet they are all hiding... ;D
I'm afraid, that link doesn't work for me.
They think I'm logged on with an already in use email ???
Thanks, Lesanne.
-
At last I have managed to find piece 1143... :-\ father is Reuben.
Kate and siblings father is John Williams c1848 Bucks (Princes Risborough).
I think I need to find John's parents or even the parents of wife Ann Smith c1849 Bradenham, Bucks.
Marriage Sept 1871 Wycombe 3a 657.
1881 Turnip End Princes Risborough
John Williams c1848 P.Ris Head
Ann c1849 Bradenham Wife
Ada c1870 P.Ris.
John c1873 "
Thomas c1876 "
Rose c1877 "
Kate c1879 "
Thanks in anticipation. ;)
-
So, Ann Smith has dad William Smith (I think) and she marries John Williams.
All in and around Princes Risborough.
The record office better take on extra staff, the amount of certs I'm gonna be ordering..... :-\ ;D
No small wonder, nobody else in the family, is looking for them.... ::)
-
Ann Smith in 1871 RG10/1409 fo 87 p 16 has William as father
-
:) Thank you Allisont.
Yes, that looks good, especially as there is a young ADA in there, aged 2.
William head 40
Elizabeth wife 35
Ann 21 = Elizabeth 14 at Ann's birth... ::)
Next family George Smith 29... ???
Now to find a John Williams...... b 1848. Princes Risborough, Bucks.
:D Thanks again. Lesanne.
-
Those ages are transcribed wrong if you look at the original they are marked but probably say 60 and 55.
In 1851 they are 42 & 35 HO107/1720 fo564 p13 (there is a George age 9)
In 1861 50 & 45 RG9/862 fo46 p13
For John Williams I was looking at these but probably totally wrong!
1861 RG9/862 fo53 p27 with the Janes (Sep Qtr 1854 marriage Daniel Janes with Maria Williams (possibly))
1851 HO107/1720 fo 572 p28 with John & Elizabeth Lacey and Harrick Williams, looking at original, could be Mariah (there is a Ann Lacey lodging with the Smiths in1851)
1841 HO107/42 fo5 p5 (the Laceys)
I gave up when I couldn't find a Maria/h Lacey marrying a Williams
-
:D Thank you for that.
With William and Elizabeth much older, it makes ADA more likely to be their grandaughter.
Daughter of John Williams and Ann Smith.
:-\ Poor Elizabeth ... is Julia her last offspring.
######
On that 1851 for William and Elizabeth Smith is an 'Ann Lacey' 39 Widow.
Having a quick 'whizz' for John Williams in 1851...
there is one with a John and Elizabeth Lacey. ... Mother is a widow :-\ and John is down as grandson, aged 2.
HO107 1720 28 Speen, Bucks.
Thanks for your help Allisont :D
-
:D :D :D
-
:( No Marriage for them... Mariah and Mr Williams (approx 1848 Bucks)
and NO birth for John either...approx 1848 Bucks.... :-X
-

FreeBMD
Births Sep 1848
Williams John
Wycombe 6 402
-
:D Alisont... ;) looking good.
Mariah has taken the name Williams?
If she was fibbing, about marriage, surely stay a Lacey?
Off to find Ann Smith's birth ref... ;)
-
:o 6x Ann Smith's in Wycombe ... :o
found a bapt 7/10/1849 to William and Elizabeth. C075382.
2 in March q 1849.... 2 in Dec q 1849 Argh........ :-X
-
Baptism looks promising with an Abel and Emma with same parents
-
:(
I've been scratching around all evening in 1891 for Kate, her dad John and her brothers and sisters. NOWT........ :(
I think mum Ann died Dec 1889 Wycombe and the family split.... but where to. ???
-
Ignore
-
Hi,
i looked under R W / KW etc b. circa the appropriate yr, in Prices Risborough nothing doing and also Williams b. Prices Risborough - no matches
i wonder if they were taken in by anoter family or family member they had 'taken' on there name for the census i.e wrongly enumerated.
-
do you have the marriage or birth cert for Kate ?
does she have middle names?
-
Hello Lesanne,
I found this:
1891 Berkshire Census
Ada Williams Age 21
Born Pr. Risb.
Servant
Bridge Street, Bray
Kind regards,
ANYAS
-
Hello Anyas,
Thanks for your trouble.
The rest of them have gone... I know not where...... :D :D
Dad shows up in the 1901 workhouse and Kate is married to William Coxhead.
All the stuff we've found on those Scavenger Hunts, argh !!
;D Lesanne.
-
:o :o OOooH !! Yikes !! Toni, I'm so sorry. Just seen your posts..... :-[
I went for the birth cert of William and Kate's first son, also William 22 Oct 1899.
It gave the most info... cheep skates aren't we. :P :P :P
William Jnr was only 17 when killed in WW1 and his place on the CWGC didn't give his family or next of kin. It's taken 2 yrs to accept my info for him.
Did you type in PRINCES Risborough? wiv an 'n' ;D
Last night, I found a Rose Anna in Shoreham and a Kate in Brighton. No B/p and the ages ? Typical, I didn't take much notice until 4.30 am this morning, now I can't find them.... Was I dreaming, that I have come down to Sussex from the Thames Valley too!!
8) 8) Kewl.
-
HI Les, yes I did spell Princes correctly! and Risborough too i hope ;D
there were two Ada Williams b. 1870 one belonging to Reuben & Edith and the other to John & Ann (your one)
the Ada who doth belong ot Reuben & Edith is with them again in 1891.
but your Ada could quite possibly have been married by 1891 as she would have been 21 then [in 1891]
I thought that maybe the children had been intutionalised and put down by their initials mand maybe born Bucks. but again no positive matches.
if they were with other family members particularly their mothers they could quite easily have been put under that surname as opposed to Williams
there is a Kate Whiting adopted child in Hastings b circa 1877 but i wondered if she had taken on the Whiting name but it appears Whiting was her birth name as the family she is with have a different surname.
hold on will try to find her again
re William Jnr, did his parents die before him? this would explain the 'missing' info from the CWGC site.
where was William Jnr born and what did the birth cert give for his mothers name?
-
clutching at straws:
Kate Elkins Orphan b. Bucks Guard .... aged 15
in the orphanage in Hastings
1891
RG12; 760; 6; 6;
image clearly says Elkins and she has been placed alphabetically before H .
but there doesn't appear to be a matching birth for her ??? (bucks 1877-1878)
-
well i can't find the adopted child census entry for Kate Whiting ::)
so ignore that until i find it
-
:D Hiya,
William Jnr parents were alive and I remember seeing a Glass fronted case with a big brass disc and letter with a photo too!! No idea where it is... :-\
The birth cert(1899 Maidenhead) is Kate Coxhead formerly Williams. It gives addy as 58, Garden Cottages. They are in Garden Cottages on 1901 with a Williams family next door.
It's not John, her father, but, could be another family member.
Off to find those refs from last night.... :-[
-
This is Kate in abt 1930.
-
its good to put a face to a name, lucky you for having that photo not everyone had cameras then
-
:-\ ooo There's a John Williams. 43 (1848). Widr. In Derbyshire, Littleover. RG12/2721 pg22.
Serv to Thomas and Ann Adams..... ? Derby as well. but.
There is a marriage of Thomas Adams to Annie Nash, Mar 1888 Wycombe 3a 615
fits with their young children.. :P
Ummm.... next bit is....
-
er where does Adams fit in?
-
Its a local surname.... Williams, Smith, Lacey, Janes, Adams, Parslow, Nash,
