Title: Birth details India 1938 please

Good morning!I have offered to do some research for my stepsons...their grandad was born in India in 1938 and I have absolutely no idea where to start!
I am a member of ancestry but can't find birth records in the Indian army section...apart from going to Kew, I am unsure how to proceed

His name was Adrian Bernard St.John Wilson born Dehradun in 1938
His Dad was Alexander Bernard born W Derby (Liverpool) in 1902
Can anyone start me off on my 'road to Mandalay!!???'

I have found a lot of my family that were born in India on the familyrelatives site, it is free to search the overseas BMD.
