I'm trying to trace my GGGGrandparents, the parents of John Hodge and Margaret Mitchell. Both John and Margaret were living at Bankin St Ninians Stirling at the time of the 1861 census. They were married 25th July 1830 and I believe John was born in 1803 in St Ninians. Margaret may also have been born there or possibly the Alloa area.
If anyone could check the deaths of this couple for their parents names it would be much appreciated.

Hi Sylvia, you're a gem! You have just confirmed the couple that I had penciled in as the most likely to be John's parents.
Big surprise!!!!! I hang out about 1 mile from where Tannoch Mill must have been. I'll have to see what I can find out about it.

Hiya Val ,
here is the bit about Alexander Hodge ,

Alexander Hodge - Ag Lab , widower of Margaret Easdon, died 16th Oct 1866 , 15 King Street, Stirling , 87 yrs ,son of John Hodge - linen weaver and Margaret Allan , Fever 3 days , informant is John Hodge , son , Lower Craigs , Stirling.
You may also have this but in the 1861 census Alexander Hodge is living with his daughter Christina at 5 Spittal Street, Stirling. Where she resides with her husband Alexander Hamilton , a TEA MERCHANT no less ! lol.
All i seem to get are miners and moulders :(

Hi Sylvia, the gremlins must have been at work, I've just noticed that my last post isn't on the board. Most likely I did something stupid.
Thanks for the post about Alexander!! Takes me back another generation for the Hodge side but so far no luck with the ESDON/EASDON/EISDON. Found their marriage 11th Dec 1803, St Ninians and Kincardine by Doune, two sets of Banns I suspect. There are two Esdon families listed there but alas no daughter Margaret. At the moment I'm leaning towards Henry Esdon and Janet McFarlane. Must try harder!
Again thanks for all your help
Val
