Hi
I have been reading the posts and there was mention of being able to search for someone on the 1881 census, just using an occupation....Please can someone tell me how to do it.
many thanks

you have to use the ancestry site.

Well - I never knew that!
Thankyou both, Tricia for asking and Pauline for the answer! :D

Only problem is..when I go on under my username it does not give me the option of ..occupation. I get it when I use the link you provided but it will not accept my password

Hi Pauline
Having a senior citizen moment. When I put the correct name in, I was able to use the occupation box.....but it made no difference to the outcome. I expected to see a list of gas managers...named George...lol

Well Tricia, it should work!
Searching for a Gas Manager first name Geo*, there are 81 hits when you tick the 'exact match' box :)

Hi Tati
Thanks for your reply. I was putting in year and place of birth and I have now tried it as you suggested, with exact match. I am off to check the results now.
thanks
