Hi
I am looking for a William Taylor who was a publican in the blackfriers area not good with London so not sure where that is.
He had a Son William Taylor 1882 who married Amy Pruce and they also had son called William born 1902.
Its the first William the publican Iam trying to trace we have one person left in family who can rem him must have been born C 1860/65 but just cant seem to find him at all.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks Val

Ok, since we're looking at a common name,
WHEN was this william a publican?
1881/1882 (location)/ when his son was born or
closer to 1901 when his son married (southwark)?
do you have either a birth address or a married from address for 1882 william?

Ok, so this publican thing may be a red herring.
It's going to be 1930 (or a little earlier)?
have you william (the 1901 groom) in 1901 census?,
(he MAY be in christ church, b Southwark aged 21y) Piece 359.
What's the father's occupation on this 1901 marriage certificate?

-

Hi Both
William Taylor 1882 marries Amy Pruce Dec 1901 Large family of Pruce decendents the pruces were Lightermen on Thames
Marriage of Daughter Beatrice Maud Taylor - Edward L Hunford 1944
Chingford
But as I say I know nothing of this other William Taylor only what we have been told

Hi
Would you beleive it cant find marriage cert know I have it somewhere in house
-
So this Chingford address is from a 1944 marriage?
I think if that is the case then you need to find the 1901 marriage certificate to confirm/clarify a few things before we can prgress this with any degree of certainty.

punch tavern, 99 fleet street - Baker & Co? it is amongst a list of pubs / hotels 7 restuarants under Baker & Co.

There is a William Henry Taylor born 1861 in Blackfriars who was a son of Horace George Taylor who was a publican. This is in the 1871 census. Hope this helps.

Just for the record William George Taylor fought in both World Wars. He was technically too young for the 1st World War and he volunteered for the 2nd whilst in his 40's.
