Looking for journalist Theobald "Toby" Wallace Bushelle (b. 1840), living and working in Brisbane 1860+. He was also well known as a singer and singing teacher. His mother was Eliza Wallace Bushelle (1820 - 1878), the sister of the composer William Vincent Wallace.

I can't see him mentioned in the Queensland BDM up to 1914.

Maybe he moved interstate, or lived past 1914.

Can't see a death for him in NSW either, although a Wallace N. Bushell died there in 1926 and a Wallace E. Bushell died there in 1927.
Neither mother was Eliza Bushell(e) though..... :-\

I can't see his death in Victoria, South Australia or Western Australia either, I am afraid.
I also checked the National Archives of Australia website for any mention of him, but also drew a blank with that search.
I did see two mentions of him when I googled "Toby Bushell".

Hi,
Theobald (‘Toby’) Vincent Wallace Bushelle was a journalist, amateur singer, & singing teacher. Worked in Brisbane (on the ‘Observer’ newspaper). Shown on electoral list in Wickham Terrace, North Brisbane in January 1882. He died in 1889 in Dunedin, N.Z. (his death certificate records his name as Vincent Bushelle) ; he had been living in Wellington & Christchurch and sang in the church choir. Doesn’t appear to have married or had any children

T Vincent Bushelle sang in concerts in Sydney in 1865 and 1869. In November 1865 he sang with his mother.

Hello...
My name is John Bushelle and I am the descendant of many of the same name, including the JB married to Eliza Vincent Wallace who you have mentioned. I have uncovered quite a bit of the family history and would be keen to talk to anyone interested. I realise it's quite a while since your post, but if you get this, let me know...

I am loosely Bushelle related via the marriage of Henrietta Head to John Butler Bushelle brother of Tobias (Toby). The Bushelle and Wallace familiess have some amazing stories
For detailed information on John Bushelle and his sons (John Butler & Tobias) see https://www.sydney.edu.au/paradisec/australharmony/bushelle-family.php#1839
This site also includes extensive documentation on the Wallace and other musical families.
From my own research interests I would like to find out more about John Butler Bushelle's early life.
