Hi, All,
Well, this really is a long shot. I am trying to find out about Ivy Langdon really, but I think she may have married William Parsons in 1912. I am led to believe that her husband was killed in WW1 and that they had a son named Louvain. The closest I have come to anything similar is a James Louvain Parsons who was born in Cornwall and died in 1985 in S Glamorgan, but that is all I have.
Can anyone shed any light on this, please.
Regards,
Annie.

You can search armed force deaths at places like

The Free bmd entry appears to match, although at this stage one other male is one that page (Camelford district)

I am not sure about Ivy sybil ... Nanny Jan had posted that an Ivy F Langdon married William Parsons ...
In 1891
The family that I just posted also had a son William living with them. I found a marriage of William Langdon to either a Selina Dawe or elizabeth J May , dec q 1892, Camelford . I wonder if they were Ivy's parents ...will try to find them in 1901 , when Ivy is with her grandparents james and Eliza Langdon.

In 1891, there is also a daughter , Beatrice Langdon. She married Samuel Lee Dec q 1893, unfortunately she seems to have died in June q 1895, camelford.

them marriage cert will tell us her fathers name,

Hi, again,
There is nothing for it but to send for the marriage cert. It is the only way I will know for sure.
My uncle is adamant that she was the sister of Frederick Prout (son of Eliza in the 1901 census) but surely she would have the same name.
I know that Frederick was registered at birth as Langdon then his name was changed on his mother's marriage to Frederick Prout senior. If Ivy was his sister then surely she would have done the same.
What a confusing family I have been born into ???
Annie.

Annie mentioned on her other thread that someone had married a Lanxon
In my previous post ,,,we have Emily marrying Thomas Lanxon ...
In 1891...Emily and Thomas LANXON (27 mar, carpenter) are boarders in Penzance ...they are transcribed under the name LanYon.
in 1901;
Thomas Lanxon (37, carpenter, mar) and his son , Thomas S I Lanxon are lodgers with the Prouts. Can't find Emily !
what if Ivy is their child and been transcribed as Langdon and not Lanxon ...

Annie ...I tend to think that she was the daughter of Eliza Prout ...

Eliza Langdon married Frederick Prout dec q 1896. Frederick , the son was b c 1896/7 ...So he the son of Frederick Snr. Ivy is most probably Eliza's child but not Frederick's ..hence her surname was not changed ....
Frederick LANGDON ...dec 1896 , same quarter as Eliza married Frederick Prout

Hi, All,
I have finally solved the mystery!
Ivy Langdon was the daughter of Eliza Langdon - father unknown.
The reason we had so much trouble finding her was that she was registered as Florence Harvey Heard Langdon. I can only assume that somewhere along the line, Harvey has been mutated into Ivy (?) She did marry as Ivy Florence Langdon.
One less headache for me. :)
Regards,
Annie.
-
;D ;D ;D Good Job!!!!
sounds like there might have been a Harvey Heard running around in those days ....Looks like Eliza wanted him to be known LOL
deb :)
-
You are probably right
I have actually found one! :D
As yet, I have not gone too deep in to it, but it may be worth following up.
I am just so glad to know that I found Ivy at last (With a lot of help!)
Annie.
-
Hi again
maybe the marriage cert would reveal a father's name ...that is if Eliza told her who her dad was!
deb
-
Hi, Deb,
I have Ivy's marriage cert. There is a line through the box where her Father's name should be.
At least I now know for sure who her Mother was.
Regards,
Annie :)
