Hi, can anyone help with a marriage lookup please?
I'm trying to find my GGGGrandparents. My GGGrandmother was Jane/Jean Goodbrand, her daughter(my GGrandmother) Bathia was born 29th Aug 1861 in Fordyce - no father listed. Jane/Jean later married a WILLIAM SUTHERLAND, 6th Sept 1868 in Boyndie. I know they had at least 2 children Mary b.23rd Oct 1872 Fordyce and William b.7th June 1874 Fordyce.
Jane's marriage certificate would give me her parent's names. At present the most likely candidates are JAMES GOODBRAND=JEAN FLETT,PHLETT,FLATE 12th July 1827 in Cullen, they had a daughter Jane/Jean b.5th March 1841 in Fordyce.
Can anyone prove if I'm on the right tract?

I am just looking at the 1851 Census and I can't find a Jane or Jean in Fordyce (Its Ancestry, so that doesn't mean she is NOT there..........)
But of interest.

Good morning - attached is the marriage entry from SP. Poor quality, but you can see that James Goodbrand (fisherman) married Jane Flett - so those were her parents as you thought.
:O)

OOps - error - ignore this

Hi again,
my thanks to both Verna Mac and Piglet 01 for their time and effort.
Verna Mac - I don't immediately see a direct connection but I'm sure it's there somewhere. Bathia(GGrandmother) was in Port Soy on the 1881 and 1891 census and Jane was with her in 1891. Also Isabella is a family name I have cousins, aunts and a grandmother all with that name.
Piglet 01 - what a surprise! I didn't expect confirmation so quickly if at all.Now I'll try taking another step back in time to hopefully find my GGGGGrandparents. No doubt I'm going to reach Orkney sometime soon, all the Fletts seen to have originated there.
Are either of you connected to these families or just really helpful souls?
Once again my thanks to you both

No relation. Someone in the US did me a big favour once when researching - just passing it on. Good luck with your efforts. :O)

I have a Jean GOODBRAND as a 5th grandmother born about 14 July 1700 in Fordyce Banffshire Scotland md to George COCK/COOK, wondering if ur GOODBRAND and mine are connected please.

In my husband's tree I have a Jean Flote/Jane Flett married to a James Goodbrand. Jane 1809 to 1877 (died Portsoy). I have 2 children Ann Goodbrand (1839 - 1924, lived and died in Sandend) and George Goodbrand. Ann Goodbrand married George Merson (c1834 - 1894) and my husband is descended from them. Is his same as your family?

Jane Goodbrand was also called Jean. My gt grandmother. I was named for her, as was my cousin, at one remove, Jean Law, of Kirkcudbright. There are still Laws in Kirkcudbright; they have a bicycle shop.
Jane m William Sutherland & her daughter, Mary, married my grandfather, Capt. George Mair of Portsoy.
I suppose that another of her daughters married John Law of Kirkcudbright. I also suppose that her daughter, Ann, married in Portsoy because I remember a gt aunt called Annie. I know that there were relations in Sandend because my grandmother used to take me there to visit. Also at Deskford, and at Brodiesord farm in Fordyce.
Is this of any help ?
