Title: Alexander Tait
Post by: maggymayshepherd on Wednesday 17 October 07 18:47 BST (UK)
This Alexander Tait (born 1786) was born in Peetonweene and married Janet Gourley in 1803.  I have traced him via the cencuses and have all of his children.  I have no information about his career as a sailor (sailing from Port of Glasgow), I have found an enquiry probably about him sailing to Australia and having a relation, maybe brother, called William.

Has anyone any information on him?

Peter

Hi,
I'm interested in following up on William Tait, believed b 1819, d 1910. My records are very sketchy but his wife was Ellen ?, and together they had five children, Stewart (Stuart) Tait, 1835, John Tait, 1839,
Robert Tait, 1841, Nancy Tait, 1844, and Daniel Tait, 1846. Daniel is my paternal GG Grandfather.
I believe this generation were born in Scotland, but possibly Ireland, as I say my records are unconfirmed at this stage.
Daniel and his wife,Margaret Ann McCurry (form Co. Londonderry, Ireland) had my grandfather, Daniel, 1877, who was born in Limavady, Co Londonderry.
I had seen somewhere that William had a brother Alexander, but I now can't find that record. Could there be a link ? I have tested with FTDNA and Ancestry, and am still searching the results...
