Charles HENRY b. 1846 Ireland married Ellen ??, according to his death cert. in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia -
His parents were John HENRY and Jane O'CONNELL
I cannot find a record of the marriage on the Vic. BDMs nor the birth of two children.
Margaret Ann HENRY b. abt 1880 - m. James CONDON 1897 Waterloo.
Ellen HENRY b. about 1880 - died before 1932.
Have found the birth of two subsequent children.
Sarah J b. 1883 - m. Norman Hunt MCCLUNG 1907 Hillgrove, NSW
John b. 1885 in Waterloo, Sydney, NSW - d. 1885.
Would love to hear from anybody with connections to these lines.
With thanks,
Gail

What are the names of these two children, and what time frame were they born?
I would imagine that the informant gave the wrong information on the death certificate. You will need to purchase a child's birth to establish the mother's maiden name, and hopefully the place and timing of their marriage will be recorded on the birth certificate.

Hi Christine,
Charles Bernard HENRY d. 1885 at Waterloo, Sydney and the informant was a neighbour ... so, as you say, very likely wrong information. The wife's name was given as Ellen BROWN b. Co Armagh - but when she remarried in 1891 she gave her parents as Patrick NEWS & Mary Jane DYNES.
The children are:
Margaret Ann b. abt 1880
Ellen b. about 1880
Then the two born in Waterloo, Sydney (which I've found)
Sarah J b. 1883
John b. 1885
Ellen HENRY d. 1932 and her daughter Sarah MCCLUNG (nee HENRY) was the informant and she also gave her mother's maiden name as BROWN.
I'll do as you suggest and order Ellen HENRY's b. cert - as I have a date and Reg. No for that and see what it says.
Thank you so much for your input.

It is possible that they emigrated already married and with children. I have a death certifcate that claimed the deceased had been born England, but she was born here - second generation!
I checked Vic again, and also SA & Tas.

Hi Christine,
I'm sure they arrived in Australia via space ship - have checked everything twice over, at least. ???
However, today found a reference to a Charles HENRY on a domestic arrival in 1880 - will have to get to the State Records (again!) though to check it out which may not be for a little while.
Still have hope :P
With thanks,
Gail
