Hi,
I'm looking for William WILKINSON, born~1852 in Beesthorpe, Notts.
I have him and his family in 1881 and 1891 including wife Jane b~1852 and son John Wm b~1879
Anything from the 1871 or earlier census would be much appreciated, as well as if he's still around in 1901.
He's usually Ag Lab (aren't they all?) and probably married by 1874 (at age ~22 - so there could be more children further back)
[edited to add: I can find two marriages which might be him, one is Sarah Jane Clay, Bingham in 1874, the other is Jane Troop, Newark in 1873 - I'm inclined toward the Newark one given that he's from Beesthorpe, and also that the name for the wife is just Jane - any thoughts anyone?]
Thanks for any help

The two marriages are ..from Notts FHS marriage index
William Wilkinson/Jane Troop at Thorney 15/05/1873
William Wilkinson/Sarah Jane Clay at Screveton 28/05/1874
It was more likely they married in the bride's parish - does her birthplace make either one more likely than the other?

Ahhh kaz has supplied birthplace while I was typing :)
Yes, Thorney is only 2 miles from North Clifton - so that's my best guess!

Brilliant!

Hi Spring,
quite a way out. Besthorpe Notts is on the Lincolnshire border (in the parish of South Scarle) and about 30 miles from Bulwell

Thanks Heather,
The name seems to be prolific all down that coast but no relationships between the County groups.
