I have a Robert (b.1804) & Elizabeth (b.1802) Ridge, married around 1824 in Llanfair Caereinion, in my family tree. In the 1841 census they farmed at ?Tucoch. Next door at Rhosoflo farm are David (b.1776) & Elinor (b.1781) Ridge. Has anyone got access to find out if David & Elinor are Roberts parents?
Maybe it is on the marriage certificate, or you have access to local parish registers. Any piece of info', no matter how small would be gratefully received. :)

Very interesting :)
Robert Ridge, bpt. 23 Oct 1803, Llanfair Caerenion. Father David Ridge, Abode - Rhosaflo. Mother - Elinor Thomas, Abode - Llanllodian. Illegitimate.
David and Elinor must have married later - i'll check :)

Hi Gadget,
That is fantastic info, your a star! Does it give Davids fathers name ? ;D
-
Two other interesting finds for you - both Llanfair C:
17 June 1775 - David Ridge. Father John Ridge, Abode - Rhosaflo. Mother Jane.
14 May 1786 - David Ridge. Father - John Ridge, Abode - Rhosaflo. Mother - Mary Baily, Abode - Rhiwiraeth
Seems like the Ridge family had a long history at Rhosaflo. It may be worth doing a search on the National Library site:

Hi,
It has been a while since I've looked at the Ridge branch & it will take a day or two to dig out any info; what specifically are you after? What area are your Ridges from?
kind regards.

My great grandmother was Sarah Ann Ridge so I have nearly managed to go back to David but anything that you have got would be great as it would really help in understanding the rest of the family .Thank you so much for this I look forward to hearing from you. :)

I cannot find a Sarah Ann Ridge in my (my husbands) side of the tree. The first Ridge to appear in our tree is a Lucy Ridge born 1874 in Montford Bridge who married John Blower in 1891.
Her parents were Robert Ridge b.1830 (in Llanerfyl) & Emma Sherry b.1842
Roberts parents were another Robert b.1803 who was married to Elizabeth Jones in 1830.
This Robert appears to have been the illegitimate son of a David Ridge b.1775 (at Rhosoflo) & Elinor Thomas b.1781 who married in 1808 and ran the Rhosoflo Farm.
There does appear to be a lot of Ridges in the area and yours may well be a different branch.
There were a few people of that name on the GenesReunited web site, you may be as well to put a post for help on there. You are welcome to look at my tree on that site but I know there are a lot of people who have a lot more names than I do.
Good luck with your searches, kind regards sheila

Thanks for that I do have Daniel Ridge who had an illegitimate son of David with Catherine Evans in 1805 who was from Rhosaflo but I assume that this was a small area around Llanfair , thanks I will look at your tree whom else do you know that has more Ridges in their family tree ? Gosh you could go on forever.
