Title: Death cert info from 1870's
Post by: seejayward on Sunday 14 October 07 08:15 BST (UK)
Does anyone know whether place of birth is detailed on an 1873 death certificate?  My GGG Grandfather died in Bethnal Green Workhouse in 1873 and I know from censuses that he and his wife were born in Germany and must have come to the UK c1830, however I have no idea which area they were from.  Is it worth me getting a copy of his death certificate? Thanks

No, it just states when and where they died.

Hi Seejayward

Welcome to Rootschat

The following is a good site to read through regarding information contained on English & Welsh bmd certificates http://www.dixons.clara.co.uk/Certificates/deaths.htm

You might like to have a look at some of the posts at the top of the immigrants board here on Rootschat to see if there is anything useful there:

Oh dear, it may be difficult for me to progress but will have a look and see if there's any other options - thanks both!  :)

Hi

Ive been looking thro the surname interests and then noticed your comment about your gt gt grandfather dieing in 1873 in the workhouse at Bethnal green. This sounds an awful lot like my ancestor William Zuber .. I have the Death Certificate in case you still need it...

Kind Regards
