Hi all .. please point me in the right direction to find out more about Dr James Pittendrigh MacGillivray who was a Sculptor born in Aberdeenshire c 1856. I believe he may have moved to Edinburgh when he was 12 ... c 1868 . My friend, who is on currently visiting, has just recently discovered that he is the great great grandson of this Scot. He has never been interested in his roots before and I am trying to help him now that his appetite has been wetted! I have told him about this site( I rarely leave the photo restoration board) and he can't believe how helpful people are ...If this is on the wrong board ...my apologies ..Cheers ....Any help would be appreciated . Where was he in 1861 etc. I am going to the RC meeting in Glasgow this weekend and hope to photograph some examples of his worktoo as I have just found that he sculpted some of the Gravestones in the Necropolis too as well as Burns Statue in Edinburgh !!
Thanks

I love this quote from him
I don’t get any commissions because I want to do the work in my own way - and take my own time to do it - the time I find necessary to make things the way I want them. The result is a tendency to tell the mob to go to hell
Cheers
