Title: Roote
Post by: curiousfox on Friday 05 October 07 09:59 BST (UK)
I am trying to track down Joseph Roote born c1796. He is on the 1851 England Census living in London, he gives his birthplace as Ireland. Has anyone any ideas as to how i might track him down?
His occupation was listed as a Warehouseman. His wife was Margaret also born c1796. They were both in England in 1841, as they were also entered on the census for that year.
With so little to go on, i haven't a clue where to begin.  :( So any advice would be welcome.
thanks,
Irene

Hello Irene,

Here's a useful list of sources that may show families named Roote in Ireland. Unfortunately not all of them are online. There's no listing on either the Flax
Growers List of 1796 or Griffiths Valuation 1848-64.

Many of the links shown below are on  John Hayes Fáilte Romhat.com website.  (http://www.failteromhat.com)
