Hi, I was wondering if I could get someone to lookup some family details for me, so I can try and verify what I have. My grt grt grand father was Joseph Gillott b abt 1830 Holmfirth, Yorkshire, father listed as Jonas Gillott on his marriage cert. What I am after is Joseph's mothers name, siblings, and if at all possible Jonas's parents and siblings
Thanks
Carole

The 41 census is no help. There are 2 Jonas Gillotts one a shoe maker with son William 11 the other a cotton weaver seems to be lodger.
On 51 census theres this
Jonas Gillott 59 shoe maker b Attercliffe
Elizabeth 55 wife nail cutter b Sheffield
William 20 son scale presser? b ditto
George 19 son coal dealer b ditto
Ann Wagg 70 lodger unmarr nail header b Barlow Derbys.
This could be Josephs mum and dad but they arent together on 41

Hi, Thanks for that, yes it is the one in 1861, but not 1841, what I have found in and think maybe right, from the 1841 census is, the Jonas by himself could be the right one and his family were living else where, I did find an entry for a Jonas Jellott marring a Mary Peace 1813 in Kirkburton, on the LDS site, also found a Mary Gillot & children including Joseph, on 1841 census Glossop, Derbyshire. What I need now is to try and verify all this from parish records. Where would I need to look or get access to records from Holmfrith and Kirkburton
Thanks Carole

Hi Carole,
You can get booklets of transcribed parish records from
www.hdfhs.org.uk
Which is Huddersfield and district family hstory society
Or someone on here may have them and do a look up for you if you post another topic, I do know of someone who has Kirkburton marriages.
