Title: Ramsey/Ramsay
Post by: Netta on Wednesday 03 October 07 12:58 BST (UK)
Looking for Isabella's family, had a sister Agnes, brother Thomas.  Her father had a barbers shop in the York Street area.
Photograph with Husband Joseph Silas Short & daughter Nellie who died in infancy.
I believe Isabella had an Aunt who had a shop in Whitehead !
Thank you
Netta

Hello Netta,

I had a look at the 1912 Ulster Covenant but didn't find Isabella or her husband.

Hello Aghadowey,
Thank you for your info, wee problem, I have Isabella DOB 8/2/1883 deceased April 1952, will I change DOB on my tree.

Isabella told a white lie when she married in 1899 states she is 21yrs, I make her 16yrs would this marriage have been illegal if she had stated the truth  ???
Thank you

You need to make a few posts before you can use the PM system (anti-spam measure) so if you reply to this and then try to send a PM to Netta I think it should work.

Hello Netta,

What denomination were the Ramsay/Ramsey family. Was the Aunt a sister of Isabella's mother or father or married to a brother of one of her parents?

Hello my Gt Gt Grandmother Agnes Hanley nee Ramsay/Ramsey lived on Mountview Street in the Oldpark area, her father was called Thomas we think the came from County Antrim but may have orginally been Scottish. I have old photos taken at studios in Hamilton Lanarkshire and others taken in Belfast. I've been trying to find out more about Agnes' family but it's proving a very tough nut to crack, if you like I can send you some photos and we can see if it correspnds with anything you might have.

Hello and many thanks, yes that's my Gt Gt Grandfather and Grandmother, I was down at PRONI saw that record, it says Thomas Ramsey was a labourer although that would be inconsistent with the photo we have of him with a top hat and cane, (see attached). This photo was taken in Hamilton and a family member told me Agnes was Scottish, although on the 1901 and 1911 census it says she came from County Antrim.
