I have a Henry STOODLEY in Crewkerrne in the 1881 census, born about 1847-48. Would a kind peron please look him up in the 1851 census to establish his family, and also perhaps his father in the 1841 census? I want to try to trace Henry's Crewkerne ancestry back to the eighteenth century.

I should have checked first, but the George Stoodley I listed in 1841 is a different family. They are still living in Crewekerne in 1851 (minus Sarah) at 83 Ashlands. I'll look again for your George in 1841

There seem to be several Stoodley's born in Crewkerne...

Hi Jim - Steve's 1851 is correct for George... I found Hermitage Street in Enumeration District 2 went up and down the pages, no George although there were other Stoodley families, some Masons.
I'm pretty sure this is George in '41 indexed as Studley...annoyingly he is away from home...

Can anyone tell me who the parents (siblings) of Mary Stoodley (born abt 1775/80) might be? Mary married John Churchill (son of William & Frances Churchill) on the 6th November 1797 in Wayford, Crewkerne. They had three known children: Frances 1798, Catherine 1801 & Mary 1805. Names connected witht his family are: Stoodley, Barratt, Baker, Caddy, Locke, Churchill, Forsey to name a few.
