Hello,
I have a photo of a young man abt. 20 yrs old (passed down from my grandfather, Hugh Wagstaff, who was from Ayrshire), with this written on the back:
"New Address
Young
c/o Mrs. Muir
382 Cathcart Rd
Glasgow"
We did have some Youngs in our family, but really not certain if this photo is one of them.
Is anyone able to look up census information for this address in Glasgow to see if there is a Mrs. Muir and possibly a Mr. Young in the same household? I think the photo was probably taken around the turn of the century (1900), but I can provide an image of the photo if that would help narrow it down.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Trish

If you go to the above site and do a search in the 1913-14 Valuation Rolls - Ward 21, p140 you will see that a Mrs. Agnes Muir lives there but there isn't anyone by the name of Young.
But now that I have her first name let me see if I can find something else.

Hi,
In the 1901 census there is a George and James Young who are boarders at 415 Cathcart Rd Glasgow, there is also a William Young boarding at 340 Cathcart Road Glasgow, none of them with a Mrs Muir. Of course if after 1901, not much chance in getting them on a census.

Thanks to mab for finding Agnes - at least we know her given name now.
And thanks to Tom for the census information. Did you come across ages for any of the men?
Kind Regards,
Trish

My pleasure Trish. I really wish that there were more Valuation Rolls on line. More free records. However, we work with what we have...right ;D
