Hi Doug

I should hasten to dsay I have no WAKELING connection:

It should perhaps be clarified that Arthur WAKELING 's full name is Arthur Frank WAKELING whose birth is registered in Dunmow Essex in Jun Qtr 1869.

In 1901, he is at 95 Moss Lane in the Hulme area of Manchester, on his own and listed as a Watch Clock & Jewelry maker and Shop keeper (own account), born Dunmow Essex.   (Ref: RG13 /   P  3704 /  25 / Pg 41.

I just found another post on the Essex Board:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,257597.0.html
and anothe post
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,257415.0.html

In both of these it is inferred that  Arhur  had 2 daughters ?

Or was it another brother Alfred  ??? who had the 2 daughters? Are these 2 daughters the Florence and Eve you mention?

Sorry,  I'm just a wee bit confused :

Walter WAKELING and Elizabeth SMOOTHY has 9 children.
I  can't quite work out who was who from your reply .
Are you trying to trace descendants via all their children or just via Arthur? If all of them, then perhaps it may be beneficial to your quest  to list in order all the children of Walter and Elizabeth with DOB. marriage, spouses, children in so far as you know already?   This may help someone who has a connection to any one of them to recognise a connection back to Walter?

Kind regards
AMBLY

thank Annie,
I think the reference to Florance born 1886 and Eve born 1896 is true  Arthur we believe married a Hannah the birth dates probably correct the William in all this could have migrated to Canada looking into this and if Campbell Smoothy Wakeling is his son as his middle name is Smoothy  his mothers maiden name was Smoothy

It doesn't seem that Campbell Smoothey WAKELING is directly in Doug's tree - I guess the hope was he was the son of William b abt 1862. But his mother is not Elizabeth SMOOTHEY - it was Emily STEPHENS. It seems his SMOOTHEY bit came down from his father.  There are actually a number of WAKELING's with that middle name. Another was a Kemble born in Essex.... his father was a George. I can see Census, for them Doug, if you  don't already have it or are interested, please call out !!

Campbell:  I think his father William was born abt 1855 Ongar Essex,  the son  a Zacariah or Yachariah WAKELING.

Name & POB of Mother: Blank
Informant: Ernest WAKELING, son, of York Street
Deceased is buried at Woodland Cemetery 14 Oct 1921
Undertaker: W HARRISON, London Ontario.

I think this death cert incorrectly lists William's father as William S - I think that could be his own name! His 1879 marriage cert would  sort that one out if you wanted to.  His son Ernest is the death  informant, and did not know his grandmother's name, so perhaps he got the grandfather's wrong too!

Outside looking in and assuming you did not already know of them, I think there is a good chance these WAKELINGS are connected to you - and the  SMOOTHEY and WAKELINGS are probably connected in other ways besides the  marriage of your Walter & Elizabeth.  It may be a case of Siblings marrying Siblings of another family, or cousin marriages. Incidentally, some of the Ontario WAKELINGS appear to have made tracks down to Detroit Michigan at some stage.

Doug, not sure what you may have if anything on all this, or if you are interested in pursuing any of it! I realise this thread was started in the hopes of locating Florence A and Eva B, Alfred's daughters.

What we have been trying to do, is search laterally - as sometimes that can wash the targets out! Instead we seem to have found a forest of WAKELINGS but not them!

Cheers

You're welcome Doug
There appears to be more WAKELINGS than you can poke a stick at that are likely connected to yours!

I think Campbell was Zac's grandson, via Zac's son William.
There is someone floating about who is obviously researching Zac's line  - does the surname BRAND mean anything to you? Would you be interested in contacting this person if you don't already know who they are?
