Thank you for the information. G.W. Newman is a friend's father and she has had no news of him since 1937. My friend has lived in Australia since just after WW2, has 2 children and 2 g/ch and feels she would like to know more to pass on to her family so this is very helpful. Is there any way we can find out where he might be buried, her daughter is in London until end October.

I posted on the beginners board yesterday and have been kindly referred here.
George William Newman died in Bromley Hospital on 15th April 1957 and I wondered if anyone could advise me on how to find out where he is buried?
He was my friend's father and she lost touch with him in 1937 and as her daughter is in London until end October would like to know the burial site. The Census information was posted on the Beginners board for me and the parents names are his. His Death Cert shows that he lived at 11B Oaklands Rd, Bromley and that he was a retired Surveyor. Should you require any further information kindly let me know. We live in Australia.

Thank you for your help. The Census records you have posted are correct as they are certainly his parents.

Sorry, the confusion is my fault Reesoz.  :-[ I had moved the post from the beginners board to Kent, and removed the last post suggesting you repost here, (as requested) Looks like you had already seen it, therefore to avoid confusion I have now merged the threads. Hope someone can help you.....Kris  :D

Hi Reesoz

I would suggest contacting the London borough of Bromley council see:

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01yc/

It says they charge £26 :o for a lookup in their burial records but I don't know if this would still apply if the date and place of death is known :-\

Would it be better to visit their offices in person I wonder :-\
