Sorry I can't help with your James Carr but in Ireland Carr and Kerr are interchangeable so you should check under both surnames when searching.

Hi Mary, It's hard to find a family without a parish. The surname Carr Mayo,Galway.Sligo,Leitrim, Wexford and roscommon.
Guess you have no Parish name?

Hiya Mary,

I'm not sure if this is of any assistance but it might be worth considering. There's a  Bridget Carr of Kiltamagh, Killedan, Mayo listed in Griffiths Valuation of the county which took place in 1856-7. Possibly Bridget (born 1839) was named after a relative of James. There were no Kerrs in Mayo at the time of the Valuation.

Christopher.

Hello Mary,
I would be interested to know if you have any more information on Bridget Carr b: 1839 and any immediate family of hers.
I have a Bridget Carr born at that time in Roscommon (possibly) who must have moved to England at some point, as she shows up in the 1871 census, married to Thomas Maloney, and living in Old Sanford Street, Lichfield, England.
The census shows her mother was Ann Carr (not Mary as your post might indicate), and she has brothers John age 36 born Ireland, and Thomas, age 19, born Lichfield.
Did you find any more detail of her father (if they are the same Bridget)?
regards
Katrine.
