Hi can any kind person help me please with some look ups, on my Gadd family, Samuel Gadd 1781 of oldswinford, and his children , Thomas 1817 John 1818 Mathew 1820 And my great great grandfather Mark Gadd 1825, all born oldswinford, Worcestershire, Samuel was a nalier, and so were his sons, i think, they eventualy moved towards wolverhampton, via, Kingswinford, Dudley, Sedgley, Gornal and some Cradley, any help is appreciated,

Hi Karenlee,
i think you have it the nail, on the head so to speak, it seem that Rose Esther Sarah and Abigail some how ended up in the workhouse Stourbridge Kingswinford, but from your look ups seem to have worked there way out from there to be Confectioner shopkeepers, how i not yet sure but its, so interesting to have some sort of insight as to how they lived back then and gives me a path to follow, which might bring me to how my father came to wolverhampton, i know that my grandfather was John Edawrd Gadd, about 1895, born Sedgley Staffordshire,? i also have found his may have been, Heber/Eber, 1851whom married a woman i think was a Brittle, i have printed out your look up so far, and appreicate the help so much, i will now try and put all this info in to some sort of order to help form my tree, any more info is most welcome again thank you so much,

Hi Karenlee could i be so bold and ask if you have time to try and trace Heber Gadd 1851 and his children, from then till 1901, as this is the main trunk of my tree, i hope you dont think of me as being to cheeky, i have taken a look on ancestry free1881 census but am not very good at it, any marriage or death, plus birth, vol, or pages would all so be of great help so i can send for the certs, for them , i have be told this is a good way of finding out more about your family tree, many thanks,

Happy to have been able to provide the information for you.
Must say that certificates are an essential piece of the puzzle, as they, unlike census entries, don't lie. They are the proof that you need to show you are on the right track, so to speak.
Will be happy to look for Herber??or Herbert and trace him for you, both for BMD and census. I may not get to it until later on today though.

Karenlee those are the people alright i know that John Edward Gadd married Florence colley, as i was told that now i know the Vol i will be getting that cert for sure some time today as i have to go to town,
Any thing else on heber's children would now be the iceing on the cake for me, as what you have found so far as built my tree from me backwards to my great great grandfather Mark Gadd, that is the trunk of my tree and his sibling;s will be the branches, Hebers or Eber, 1851 kids are the mainbraches to, i have found out that the certs cost £7.oo pounds here which is well worth it, to pass on to my children, i think some Gadd's married brittle some Dunn, thanks again and have a nice day, i will let you know how i go on with the certs,

The IGI entries that I sent you are taken from the Parish Register for Old Swinford. There is no maiden name listed for Mary unfortunately, but it does seem that these are all the siblings of Mark.

Karenlee thank you so much i have putnealy all of them in my tree, its just a matter of finding the marriages for them now one by one and see if thay had any children, i will be sending for a lot of certs monday, total so far is 9 cant wait to get them back, is there any possible way you could help me with tracing Marks siblings and whom thay married from 1841 though to 1901 one at time of cause as i dont want to take all of your time up, i only have the free 1881 census, and am not to good using it, i will understand if it's to much for you, many thank again, im off to bed just now as its 4.12 in the early moring here,

Not sure how much I will be able to find about the daughters, they are the hardest to track if they marry , obviously, but the boys should be okay.
I did get Samuel for you, so will keep on it for the others.
I have not been able to find a marriage for a Hannah/Ann GADD that fits yours, but that does not mean that she's not out there somewhere of course.

Was trying to see if I could find anything on Florence COLLEY. I think that her parents were Isaiah COLLEY and Ada Emma nee BLACKFORD.
Interestingly, on the 1871 Census, the BLACKFORD family has a servant named Priscilla BRITTLE. May be nothing at all to do with yours, but the coincidence was not lost on me.

Karenlee, i stay up so late because i suffer from insomia, it drives me crazy sometimes, yer the colley family would be nice, and i am so thankful of you truly, today i am goin to spend most of the day putting all the tree in my Family tree Legdend's and a copy on the Family tree maker 2005, keep meaning to get the next one 2006, but some how havent got round to it, i will have to try and getover to old swinford in the near future, and see if there are burials, in the churches round there, its not far from me about 6miles, more Gadd's than i thought, its making me wonder now if the Gadd Cake Company, in sedgley is related, to me will have to find that out, Cheers again Karenlee,

This is the most likely family for Florence E M COLLEY, but until you get her marriage certificate and prove her parents names, this information is purely speculative.

First sorry i have taken my time getting back to you, my PC crashed, and i have been awaitin g the certs from the look ups you have so painstakenly done for me and im happy to let you know that so far you have it the bullseye with them, i now have serveral certs on Gadds Colleys, now i must trace the dunns as far as i can and the Blackford,s so if at any time that you have some extra time from the chidren which i know is almost inpossible from what i remember when mine were so young, i would again appreciate your valuable help,

Heber Gadd 1851 father, Mark 1825, mother, Mary Ann Maria formerly DUNN,
Mary Ann 1852 father Henry Brittle Mother formerly Maria HAYWOOD,
I also ended up with Eber Gadd's birth 1880 ( John brother,) 54 Castle street Sedgley, would love to know whom he married and if they had any siblings,
Have also got John Edward Gadd's /Florence Ethel May Colleys, marriage cert, Dudley reg office,
Heber Gadd /Mary ann Brittle marriage 1871 Lower Gornal Sedgley,
Henry Brittle was deceased, by then,

Hi! This is very exciting actually. My nans maiden name was Gadd and the family lived in Sedgley. My mother was born in Oldswinford. Levi Gadd is my great grandad who was married to Mary Ann Hickman - they had to two children Ernest and Doris (my nan).
We'd love any info that you've found out about the Gadd's or if you've made a Gadd family tree. We don't know much about the Gadd family as Dora died young.
