Title: Old Kilpatrick Churchyard
Post by: Debbie in B.C. on Wednesday 19 September 07 17:42 BST (UK)
Found another rellie that is buried there.
Ann/Agnes McGrannaghan, died Feb 21, 1855 at Duntocher, interred at Old Kilpatrick Churchyard, Daniel Ramsay, Undertaker.

If anyone has a list of the MI's there, I would love a look up!

TIA
Deb

She would certainly be in the oldest part of the cemetery closest to the Church near the Barns of Cochno crypt most likely.
If you find where happy to photo it for you.

thanks for the kind offer joette!  Finding where is going to be the tough part.  With my luck, I suspect that there probably won't be a headstone,  the family were too poor!

Would you like just photos of the cemetery & surrounding area?It is a beautiful place & many of my rellies are buried here, where married, christened here.My Granny even managed to be married twice there. To both my Grandpas-yup my Mum's Dad married my Dad's Mum.

Duntocher is also in the surrounding area & at that time was mainly farmland & big estates.

Hi again joette, I already have a couple of pictures of the churchyard, my G Grandfather - Anthony Coyle is buried there as well - no headstone for him either.  But in his case, I was lucky to have the bill of sale for his lair, so I knew the "where" in his case.
Thanks for the offer anyway!

If you ever stumble across a McGrannaghan in your travels to the churchyard, I would be thrilled if you remembered me.

Hi, if you have the name of the person you are looking for and date of death then bereavement services at the local council can tell you exactly which plot it is.  They were brilliant when I was looking.

Hi, There is no stone with the surname McGrannaghan in  the Old Kilpatrick churchyard.

It may be one of the stones that are laying face down and could not be recorded or there was no stone for it to be recorded. The cemetery is next to the churchyard, so they may be buried in there. You could write to West Dunbartonshire Council Clydebank and ask them if your ancestor in in the graveyard.

Hi there John, Many thanks for looking for my McGrannaghan in the cemetery.  I had forgotten all about this post from back in 2007!  but as we know, you never give up hope of a response in genealogy  ;)

Good idea about dropping a line to the Council, I will look into that for sure.  Thanks again, your help was much appreciated.
