Hi-
I have some information about my ggrandfather. It appears that he was in the 114th battalion (? 117th battalion).
I don't know for sure if this is England or a Canadian thing. The years are not clear and he had moved to Canada right after he was married.
Does anyone know anything about the 114th battalion?....how I can get records, what country are they out of, etc.
Thanks-
Jennie

My ggrandfather's papers for the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles said that previous military experience included 18months in the 114th? Battalion. The writing on there looks like it could be maybe 117th Battalion. So I am not sure which one he was in before the Canadian Mounted Rifles. There is some other writing on this line but I do not know what it says or means.
Do you know if there are any archives that would list previous military experience. He spent the majority of his career as a Mounted Rifle and died in Oct. 1917 in WWI.
I am preparing a gift for my father and I think he will be surprised to know that he had a previous miltary experience. I know I was.
Any continued help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks-
Jennie
