on just browsing through the 1881 census i have come across many William William/s and John John/s etc. do you guys have them in your trees? does it make it more difficult to research or easier? - just wondering.
-
Not a double name on mine, but what I find tricky is the long run of children given the same name as their fathers ... I've got six generations all with the same name ! Very confusing.
-
yes i have that one too, all called John or Thomas not actually John Thomas he he he
-
Glad about that !
-
Does William McWilliam count?
-
The footballers Gary and Philip Neville, their fathers forename is Neville. I was quite confused the first time I was introduced to him. Parents with a sense of humour.

I have William Williams, Thomas Thomas, Edward Edwards, Thomas Thompson, the 1st three being Welsh and very confusing. I also have 5 generations of Thomas Neilson's in my Scottish line which confuse me even more! :)

Happens a lot in my Welsh side-
Hugh Hughes, Griffith Griffiths, William Williams etc.
It's actually painfully difficult researching my Welsh side because there only seems to be about 8 surnames in the whole of Wales. ::) In my research experience anyway. ;D

I've got an Amy Amey! Does that count?

Sorry Jane, you weren't supposed to read that lol!!! I promise I won't mention his equally dreaded daughter or the delightful Prisc........ oops - almost!

Hi Folks
I am surprised Steve hasn't mentioned our Stephen Stevenson or his son Stephen!!! Mind you my real names not that much different as I am descended from them!!! AND if Steve dares to tell she will be in BIG BIG trouble!!!!
Wot a strange family I am from - just glad I broke the pattern and gave my 2 children simple names!!
Any guesses will be denied vigorously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy days - saz x
