I have just found out, that for the sum of £18, you can go for 6 hours to the Registry office in Old Hall street.
For this sum, you will be given a tour and information. They will help you look around, but they wont let you look at the original registers. :(
If anyone want's to go, you just have to ring them up apparently. ;D 0151 233 3004

This fee applies to searches that you wish to do personally at a Register Office. You may search the index but not the registers. However it has to be arranged in advance and can only be at a time when suitable for the office.
