Title: occupation of John Nicholls
Post by: premo on Thursday 13 September 07 21:50 BST (UK)
Hi

I am trying to work out what the middle bit is in the occupation of John Nicholls, born 1797, Warwickshire, Birmingham.
I can see Patten ______ Maker, any help would be appreciated.

1851 census
Piece, 2055
Folio, 252
Page, 46

Good luck!

Patten- Any of various kinds of thick-soled footwear; esp. (in pl.) wooden clogs which are slipped on the feet without fastening, or raised platform-type shoes.

Hi and thanks for the help

It certainly looks like Clog, think I will go with Patten Clog Maker.

Thanks David
