Title: Re: 1841 Sussex Census York
Post by: Chris in 1066Land on Saturday 11 September 04 19:19 BST (UK)
Hi Pam4Mat

Thanks for the private message

Looked through the 1841 for Dallington with the extra information you gave me

HO107/ 1108/ Page 8 – ?, Dallington, Sussex
YORK William, 65, Bricklayer
             Elizabeth,
             John, 15

All born in County

There was only one Ann York in Dallington, but aged 45 and married with family - so more than likely it was not her.

Can I look anywhere else for you in the 41 or 51 census for Sussex

Hello again Chris,

My profuse apologies for only now replying to your last message..............family concerns have kept me away from the PC for a bit ( existant family as opposed to the dead lot for a change)

The James Phipps you found certainly sounds like my GG grandfather and the George is a new avenue for me to explore.

Regarding Ann York, her age was 22ish at the time of her marriage so cannot be the right one.
A pity as the given occupation of her father at the time of her marriage in 1841 was a Mason, not that far removed from a Bricklayer!
If you are still willing I would very much like to take you up on your offer of more help through the Sussex censuses you have and will be in touch soon.
Thank you for all your help to me so far.

All my best wishes ..................................Pam
